A long-time rivalry renews in non-conference basketball Monday when Pella Christian welcomes PCM for a girls-boys doubleheader.
For the boys, it marks one of the great longtime rivalries in Class 2A basketball, as future hall of fame coaches Larry Hessing of the Eagles and Fred Lorensen of the Mustangs will square off yet again.
Hessing has 430 wins for Pella Christian in his 26th season and 624 in his 38 years overall; Lorensen is at 575 career wins, which include every season since Prairie City and Monroe merged, and the rest at Monroe High School prior, now in his 39th season.
The girls-boys doubleheader begins at 6 p.m., with pregame starting at 5:45 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS.
